About La Gomera, Canary Islands
La Gomera is the opposite of Malta, in that there is very little on the un-spoilt and un-developed island. There are a few bars, restaurants, and guesthouses, and just a handful of hotels. If you are sailing or scuba diving from La Gomera, don't expect any nightlife or shopping.
The island lies south west of Tenerife, a days sail, and is dominated by its dormant volcano, as are most of the islands of the Canaries. The island offers ideal sailing conditions - wind and sunshine, and conditions around the island can be testing and interesting.
